The physical body weight, body mass index, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein LDL cholesterol, high density lipoprotein HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting blood sugar, creatinine and urea levels were determined before and following the administration of the ketogenic diet.
Changes in these parameters were monitored after eight, 16 and 24 weeks of treatment. From week 1 to week HDL cholesterol levels considerably increased The level of total cholesterol decreased, whereas LDL cholesterol levels decreased after treatment. The level of triglycerides decreased following 24 weeks of treatment significantly. The level of blood glucose decreased. The noticeable changes in the amount of urea and creatinine weren’t statistically significant.
It considerably reduced the physical body weight and body mass index of the patients. Furthermore, it decreased the amount of triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and blood sugar, and increased the amount of HDL cholesterol. Administering a ketogenic diet for a comparatively longer time period didn’t produce any significant unwanted effects in the patients. Therefore, today’s study confirms that it’s safe to employ a ketogenic diet for an extended time period than previously demonstrated.
Keywords: Diet, Ketosis, Obesity Obesity has turned into a serious chronic disease in both developing and developed countries. Furthermore, it is connected with a number of chronic diseases 1 – 4.
It’s estimated that in the usa alone approximatelypeople die every year from obesity-related diseases 56. Different options for reducing weight using reduced calorie and fat intake coupled with exercise have didn’t show sustained long-term effects 7 – 9.
Recent studies from various laboratories 1011including our very own 12have demonstrated a high fat diet abundant with polyunsaturated essential fatty acids ketogenic diet is fairly effective in reducing bodyweight and the chance factors for various chronic diseases. The ketogenic diet was originally introduced in In the dietary plan, the fat to carbohydrate ratio is While there is a significant reduction in the weight of obese patients who were on a ketogenic diet 12the reverse occurred when the dietary plan changed to one saturated in carbohydrates It must be noted that the idea that fat could be eaten ad libitum but still induce weight loss in obese subjects isn’t a recently available one 13 – Incomplete oxidation of essential fatty acids by the liver results in the accumulation of ketone bodies in your body.
A ketogenic diet maintains the physical body in circumstances of ketosis, which is seen as a an elevation of D-b-hydroxybutyrate and acetoacetate. Mild ketosis is an all natural phenomenon occurring in humans during fasting and lactation 19 Postexercise ketosis is a well-known phenomenon in mammals. Although the majority of the noticeable changes in the physiological parameters induced following exercise revert back to their normal values rapidly, the amount of circulating ketone bodies increases for a couple hours after muscular activity ceases It’s been discovered that in trained individuals, a minimal blood ketone level protects against the development of hypoglycemia during prolonged intermittent exercise Furthermore, ketosis includes a significant influence on suppressing hunger.
It really is generally believed that high fat diets may result in the development of obesity and many other diseases such as for example coronary artery disease, cancer and diabetes. This view, however, is founded on studies completed in animals which were given a higher fat diet abundant with polyunsaturated essential fatty acids.
On the other hand, our laboratory has demonstrated a ketogenic diet modified the chance factors for cardiovascular disease in obese patients Although various short-term studies examining the result of a ketogenic diet in reducing the weight of obese patients have already been completed 10its long-term effects in obese subjects aren’t known Therefore, the objective of today’s study was to research the long-term ramifications of a ketogenic diet on obesity and obesity-associated risk factors in a sizable population of obese patients.
Your body mass index BMI of people was The mean age was The mean age, initial height, bMI and weight for all patients receive in Table 1. Fasting blood tests were completed for every one of the subjects.
Initially, all patients were put through liver and renal function tests, and glucose and lipid profiles, using fasting blood samples, and a complete blood count. Thereafter, fasting blood samples were tested for total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein HDL cholesterol, low density lipoprotein LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar, urea and creatinine levels at the eighth, week 16th and 24th.
In addition, height and weight measurements, and blood circulation pressure were monitored at each visit.
Any issues with taste loss on keto ? Ive been keto for 5 yrs. List 45 lbs. All blood markers good. Ldl a little high, but not worried about it. High Hdl and low triglycerides. Feel great. Im 72, feel 30 !! Could my loss of taste he because of my age. Just concerned about it. Thanks . Your ask adapt shows are great
Hi Barb Tullos, no, this isn’t typical at all.
Hi Dr Westman and everyone. I have been on low carb since two months now so I guess body is still adapting but have noticed increased trouble with the feces due to hardening and less moisture in them which is painful. My guess is restricting carbs also places a limit in fiber intake which might be almost certainly the issue here. Previously I ate a lot of fruits and had no poop difficulties. Also have some concerns with gut flora and microbiom in the long run . Common sense tells me maybe I should add probiotics to my diet, like kefir, chucrute, caspian, viili, fermented foods, to tackle this issue.
May I ask your views on this matter? Thank you
Hi John Doe, try milk of magnesia
i feel like youre not answering the question – are there any long term effects – let me talk about something else
Hi Joseph Larsen, I believe the answer is “No” Dr. Westman has prescribed a Keto diet for his patients for well over ten years will no long term negative effects.
Biggest looser tv show taught us one good lesson not to mess up with our metabolism. Not only the weight will come back but your metabolism will be destroyed. Also you cant do this forever. Accept who you are. Not every body ment to be thin and tall and rich and goodlooking
@Adapt Your Life thank you for your answer, but almost all of us doing keto just to loose weight. Its all about loosing weight and be thin. Our DNA decides us if we will be thin and tall or fat and short. Keto is a great tool to control diabetes, I have seen it myself. May be many more illness could be controlled with this diet. But many doctors like Dr. Berg promotes unhealthy kind of keto diet which is very extreme and downright dangerous. Zero carb and 80% fat! How is that even possible or doable long time? Moderate fat, protein and vegetable carb is the way to go to get the full benefit of controlling diseases. With extreme ketosis you may look nice out side but inside could be a bloody mess with a life time of regret
Monzur Jilani we weren’t meant to be sick either. We definitely don’t advocate this way of eating for aesthetics. It’s the health benefits we are after.
Has it been proven to lower metabolism with long term use.
I am a Type 1 Diabetic on keto and with weight loss my LDL went up and my triglycerides are up from 0.7 -0.9 bloods at 5.2 mmol average but I am going to try vegan but without breads and milk to see if theres a difference with no meat over the next year the same as I have done with keto diet on previous year.
Oh for Gods sake isnt there a long term effect for everything..

Just cut out the junk food and exercise. You can’t restrict yourself.
I hate it when they try to force you to have a colonoscopy every 5 years ….ugh I have no problems – did it once and it was a nightmare ( the prep ) dont want to do it again ….ugh
The mainstream Medical Mafia HATES KETO.
They will lose their chronically ill patients.
The MONEY TRAIN is slowing down.
I know what high carb eating habits have on me. Depressed, can’t loose weight, up and down energy, sleep, sickness… look at how unhealthy people are…heart disease, cancer, and more. Sugar is addictive and loves making you sick. The body doesn’t need much sugar for the body.
What all this really comes down too is, EVERYONE is different, what may work for some may not work for others and vice versa! Just eat a balanced diet avoid obvious junk foods, processed foods, too much meat and dairy, get exercise and good things happen because it still all comes down to discipline and making changes in ones lifestyle and diet whether its keto, paleo, atkins, or whatever, if you dont stick with it and exercise keto wont be any better than anything else!!
I’ve been keto for 7 months now. I went to my Dr for a physical last week. He didn’t mention anything about me losing 50 lbs. All my numbers looked great! All my doc said was; you’re still taking that statin right. I said no way, don’t want it. My doc left in a huff..
lol same thing here..lol…
thats why I go to a Dr. only for emergencies.
Princess Eve. I started keto 2 weeks ago and have been on a statin since 2004. Im pretty sure my cholesterol will go up eating all the fats. Will staying on the statin help my body regulate how high my LDL will get? Should I stay on the statin? HELP!! Thanks!
Get yourself a new doctor.
Princess Eve haha tell them.
I am 2 days on Keto…Accidentally drank 3 drinks of a diet soda that kiddo bought me…but it had Vanilla syrup! Caught myself and she traded me drinks and hers was 100 % diet…Habits…habits are gonna be hard! Next weekend I have a buffet meeting to go to…and I am gonna take veggies and meat rolls with cream cheese…Will that be ok to take ya think? It will be hard to pass up the Native frybread…but that is my plan!
Sugar-free drinks trigger almost as big an insulin spike as sugary ones. The body responds to the sweet taste. Best leave them all alone.
Low carb high fat is eating real food.
Im 8 month in keto diet I lost about 22 kg I feel energetic sleep deeply well my BP become normal my stomach reflux is removed my headaches removed also
Even I get medical sciences in university many medical rules are cheat to me now
I feel sorrow for people been manipulated by medical system controlled by pills factories
JUST THINK WHEN MAN BEEN ON THIS EARTH HIS BODY CREATED AND DEVELOPED TO FATS AND PROTIENS
We should all become keto adapted.. Meaning that we can carb up now and then.. but mostly keep it low if we dont exercise or do much physical activity. Other important dietary things to do regularly is intermittent fasting (for autophagy and gut reset) and no eating at least 3 hours before bed time.
I have been keto for 2 years. Hba1c Came down fro 6.6 to 5.9. I have stayed on keto hoping to bring it down under 5.6. So far, have not got there. I have even reduced eating to 2 meals per day, no snacking. Any suggestions?
Dr Westman, what about recent studies like this one
“Complications such as heart arrhythmias, cardiac contractile function impairment, sudden death, osteoporosis, kidney damage, increased cancer risk, impairment of physical activity and lipid abnormalities can all be linked to long-term restriction of carbohydrates in the diet.”
Is there something fishy going on with the research method or data reporting or definition of low carb? It doesn’t sound right to me. We did not evolve on a carb rich diet after all.
Does that mean fast food is no good for me? Because I like french fries. Supersize me! Has two meanings
The bad rep of cholesterol is the problem… cholesterol enables communication between neurons and encouraging the growth of new brain cells in the brain..One recent study performed by the American Medical association and published in the archives of internal medicine January 2012 demonstrated an astounding 48% increased risk of diabetes among women taking statins (cholesterol lowering medications).Type 2 diabetes is a powerful risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease.. so a low carbohydrate high fat diet is not only helping in the prevention of diabetes but also becomes a shield to most degenerative brain diseases simply by reducing constant high serum insulin levels and omitting gluten which is a very damaging protein and can cause brain shrinkage amongst all other things..
what people dont understand is that your liver makes all the cholesterol your body needs so you dont need to consume it….
The keto diet is the Atkins diet and our dear old Dr Atkins had heart disease.
Uh no. Do your research.LOL
Pancho Villa Aren’t we lucky we don’t get the answer by making simple assumptions and reading tabloids. We prefer science 😊
Going on 5 years of keto, physical fitness, performance and overall well-being had never been better. 👍
I was prediabetic for a long time, i tried many things and nothing worked much except when i started a keto diet, My blood sugar impreoved a lot (very much) and i lost lots of weight.
My fasting bs reading is under 90 and all my test cane back normal.
Keto is a way to go if you wanna get better, you can cycle if you get tired.
Now im insulin sensative and totally normal.
Thank you keto for helping me beating prediabetic.
Awesome guyen Dannynguyen 😊
In my opinion consuming high fat diet together with carbohydrates intersects with body metabolism? It is like pouring both diesel and gasoline together into your car.
Thomas Valentine we agree
The Dr is clear here. There is no long term scientific evidence on the Keto diet’s efficacy on health. There are clearly short term benefits for many. Beyond that even Dr Westman admits there needs to be government funded studies to ascertain the long term heath effects of the diet.
Esselyn is still advocating against fat.
Radnally some things never change 🙈
I have I big problem on keto , Im having to make new holes in my belt
Same and my boxers dont fit anymore
Pounding heart is irritating I’m three months in.
Dr. Ken Berry on YT, suggests adding salt to water and stops the pounding of your heart. Mine did that and I made their drink with sprinkling water, salt, apple vinegar, lemons, lines, sweetener, and it helped me. My heart was pound right at bedtime, I took salt, and it went away. Make your taking Magnesium, potassium, and salt regularly, since the kidneys are pushing of electrolytes.
I guess its normal to have a slightly elevated blood sugar after years of keto/low-carb lifestyle. The body is smart enough to develop a mild insulin resistance in most of his cells so the little carbs you ingest goes only in the cells remains very sensitive to insulin and really needs the sugar. This is anecdotally called Type 0 diabetes 🙂
Hi Dr. Westman
Been on keto couple of weeks.
Done it before where I have trouble when you try to
Make casserole it is easy to go over limit on cheese etc.
Thanks Jennifer
Will this diet change my thyroid medicine levels
It works. No more insulin.
@Tom Swinburn Well done.
Thats what Im shooting for. 13 years on insulin and 16 before that on oral meds. (metformin) In the 10 days Ive been on keto Ive dropped twenty pounds and using between 2/3 and 1/2 the insulin I was before starting keto. I had keto flu the third and fourth days in. But now over that (and diarrhea) and looking forward to the day off insulin, blood pressure medicine, cholesterol meds, and all the other garbage making drug companies BILLIONS. I wish Id met my current Doc and been his patient twenty years ago.
1- dont snack anytime, no alcohol for now until you get stabilized and then only limited.
2- dont eat after 6:00pm
3- make sure you take your electrolytes and apple cider vinegar twice a day.
4- do not eat sugar
5- keep your carbohydrate under 55 on the glycemic index (1 -100)
This means no breakfast cereals, grains of any kind, breads or pastas, potatoes etc…
6- learn to cook keto friendly, keto breads for example made with coconut and almond flours usually with lots of eggs and butter.
7- exercise and stretch at least 4 or 5 times a week and walk at least 6,000 steps each day (40,000 to 50,000 each week) try and build it up to 10,000 strps a day over time (70,000 steps a week).
8- learn about vitamins and minerals including trace minerals so for example include kelp and oysters into your diet for iodine and zinc respectively and the other nutrients.
9- take fish oil pills for omega 3 until youre confident your diet provides them, watch the omega 6 especially in force feed meats and many other sources.
10- limit dairy, no skim milk alway go with high fat as skim is just sugar.
Small amounts of cheese is ok, cheddar is good the older the better (less sugars).
11- cook with coconut, avacado, or sesame oils, balsamic vinegar on salad or a quality olive oil etc… no trans or hydrogenated oils!
Think coconut when in doubt.
12- get lots of sleep, keep the stress levels down and you will be on a better road to health.
Be prepared as you will need a new wardrobe in the coming months especially if you keep pushing your breakfast back until it becomes your lunch and you learn you are now doing Intermittent fasting with a plethora of benifits like autophagy.
I was 325 lbs 16 months ago popping pills and basically dying, today 217 lbs and heading to my final goal of 200 lbs, at 4 to 5 lbs a month.
I attest to the above guidelines although it really is basic, if you follow them you will be on your way.
Basically
No sugar, low carbohydrate, moderate protein and high fats such as coconut oil, avocado, eggs, MCT oil etc… with lots and lots of salads and healthy low carbohydrate vegetables.
For fruits just berries (blue, black, raspberry, strawberry and such) and early in the day so you can burn the fructose from your liver.
Chicken and lots of fish and most ocean products.
I feel great, this lifestyle has changed my life although adapting to a ketogenic lifestyle is a bumpy road at first, fortunately it levels off into an illuminating landscape filled with a bright sunny future.
Always look forward never dwell in the past as that person wont exist anymore!
Great summary
Congratulations. What an accomplishment.
@C K some people ate breads all their life as it is a staple food like rice for Asians. So it is not about weakness and discipline.
Have you noticed your skin improve- Ive noticed everyone on the keto diet seems to have gorgeous skin (no matter the age).
@Lemon Party BMI, although still used by the medical community, is an outdated and poor metric. It does not distinguish between lean tissue and fat. There are many bodybuilders who have single digit body fat percentage that are considered to have a BMI in the overweight or obese range.
I wonder if your propensity to adapt to Keto well may have to do with your genetic ancestry. I am Dutch and moving to a Keto diet was just… simple and great. Ive tried cheating twice and the sugar and carbs just made me feel terrible less than an hour later. I just feel like my body is saying, FINALLY! Everything can work the way I was made to!. And the mental clarity feels like I discovered some super power. Fog is gone forever!
Awesome message Ryan Turner 😊
Iam having a hard time getting my sugar levels down ,been fasting now for 39 hours and sugar level is still at 7 and before bed last nite it was 6.3 then this morning it was 7.7 why is it going higher when I haven’t eaten
Hi Val Jalava, a better test is an HbA1c
Spot testing blood sugar does not tell the full story 😊
Awesome video Dr. Westman! Thank you, I cant tell you how many times I have heard from my friends and family on how I should not stay on Keto very long. By the way I am down 69 pounds and feel better than when I was back in high school.
Amazing.
What about this study I read about that said having a cheat day on keto… even just a few a year.. cause serious damage to ones veins and arteries.. something about a sudden raise in blood sugar
I read it just recently it popped up as a news story on my phone… but .. I also get news stories of the long fabled never proven Russian collusion theory.. so.. Im taking it with a grain of salt and a slice of crispy bacon
holmes we haven’t come across this study.
Ill take my chances. I really dont see how you can get insulin resistance. Lifes a risk
Does keto make teenagers grow less?
Grow less than what? Pizza, chips, soft drinks and candy bars?
@Adapt Your Life thanks! 🙂
Hi Donit, not at all
Ive been keto now over 2 years! Shared all over because Keto has helped change my life! People are so brainwashed and so scared. DONT BE SCARED OF KETO BE AFRAID OF DISEASE FROM SUGAR AND CARBS FOLKS!
People believe that keto ruin thyroid…I believe calorie deficit ruin thyroid !!! DarthLuiggi is 15+ years on keto!
Thanks for trying doc. I will consider that.
Thanks doc!
Just curious.. The picture behind you on the wall.. Is that an old photo of the Washington monument located in Baltimore, Maryland?
What book or what web site do I go on to read how to do the Keto diet? Id appreciate some good info. So much out there I m not sure where to start!
@Adapt Your Life thanks !
Thank you
Julie Slone look no further. You have come to the right place.
Here is a 16 min video
Hey random person scrolling through the comments. I just want to say: have a great day or night!
Remember you are loved and you have a purpose in this world. Always stay positive and never give up, in life, and on your goals!
Hi Dok…thanks for sharing and see you in Jakarta.
Ketogenic diet is the best thing I have ever done in my life. I was 267 pounds and now im 248 since 2 months of starting eat. All I eat is a lot red meats, avocados, almond butter, eggs, etc… Im going to the gym regularly and my metabolism has improved ten fold.I have gain a lot of muscle mass and i fell strong as hell. My energy levels are constant and I feel amazing.
I AM NEVER GOING TO CHANGE
TILL THE DAY I DIE.
Congrats.
@Mike G Well done. Ive been on my journey for a month. Looking forward to good results throughout the coming months.
Wow, Im doing even better than you ! I was 270 and now Im 248 in 1 month and 5 days, but I usually only eat once a day. The first 2 weeks were hell. I hope we both reach our goals, good luck
I have found that the things that help me be the healthiest physically are:
1.) Regular, sufficient sleep
2.) Large amounts of cooked AND raw (colorful) vegetables
3.) Medium amounts of raw, colorful fruits
4.) Moderate-Moderately Low consumption of Beans, Nuts, Avocado, Olives and Seeds
5.) If Fruit is consumed in greater quantities, and exercise levels are lower, Grains and Starches should not be consumed in moderate-larger amounts. If exercise levels are higher, more rice and potatoes, etc. can be consumed, along with bananas, pineapple, mangos, etc., also fruit juice to a small extent.
6.) Exercise is good. Stretching, etc.
7.) High quality animal foods are fine in moderately low-lower amounts, and the fats in these foods should be paired with foods rich in vitamin A, D, E, K, etc. Vegetables, beans, nuts, potato, avocado, etc. should be consumed more regularly and in greater percentages of the plate/volume of meals, compared to animal foods. (Fruit is the dessert)
8.) Lunch, or Brunch, should be the biggest meal of the day, with plenty of protein and fats, carbs as well. Dinner should be lighter animal protein/fats, like fish, also avocado, nuts, seeds, beans, etc., and vegetables, with not much starch/carbs…
9.) Veggies, water, sleep, exercise, and some high quality animal foods as well, in moderately low amounts/frequencies. Beans help keep carb cravings under control.
BenjaminGessel this is great unless you have metabolic syndrome or type two diabetes. For these folks, carbs are not tolerated at all 😊
You talk too quiet. Or need to turn up your microphone volume.
How do we fix the LDL on keto
get off keto
I was on Atkins about that time. 2002 or when It was so much in the news. I stared because I had out of control Migraines and my son said why dont you change something big. My headaches caused me to move in to my sons family house in Mi. From fl. Well I week after starting low carb my headaches STOPPED, I lost 40 ln 8months and got vary productive in my work. I fell off the diet, got the headaches back and more they 40lbs so Ive started the low carb again and lost 40 again in 5 months and at over 70 I think Im doin great. Dangers from lo carb high fat lifestyle is cheating it really causes lots of side effects. Ill let you find out as you research. Happy bacon. 🙂
Thanks very much for the video. I’m in Canada 🇨🇦 and my friend is in Tanzania 🇹🇿. She suffers from HBP, diabetes and peptic ulcer . I advised her and keep track on her by teaching step by step what to eat starting with teaching her what is a carbohydrate.
Keto is meant to lower insulin resistance( see Dr Bergs explanation and other science sources) because you don’t consume carbs, sugar and anything processed.
Im on keto and I love it but you have not answered the question. What Id like to know Is and the 1000s of people That you Have put on the lchf diet, How many had negative affects and what you did to help them. Its nice to have outside studies but I would think after all the years Of working with patiences you would have your own results available.
incorectulpolitic the fact that your body can make it on its own is the very reason why it’s not an essential nutrient. Your body for example cannot make protein.
@Adapt Your Life if it is not an essential nutrient, why does the body spend immense amounts of resources to transform protein and fats into glucose?
Hi kickn-aDead-cat, this is the Adapt Team answering, we do not see “Negative Results” particularly when it comes to treating metabolic issues. Carbohydrates are not an essential nutrient.
Didnt eskimos once eat large amounts of fats from whales n were found to be healthy?
I’ve been on the intermittent fasting diet for around 5weeks and lost 6kg, with very little exercise. Mostly it’s 18/6, no food after 8pm and nothing apart from sparkling mineral water, before 2pm. I don’t eat more than 1200 calories per day, I don’t eat too much refined sugar, no white rice, or potatoes or stuff with white flower. No dairy, I drink almond milk, a couple of eggs per day (hard boiled). Where I struggle is with variety in my diet. I’m lactose & fructose intolerant, so my selection of fruits & veges is limited. When I see a dietitian, she ridicules my fasting habits, tells me my food intolerances are all in my head and that I should be in the gym 4 times a week for 1hr of resistance training. Never mind the arthritis in my knees & back😠
The long term effect is unemployment. Because a lot of clinics, pharma industries and processed food factories will go bankrupt.
James Rosemary yep
Since being on a Keto diet I have developed numerous blood clots in my leg right up to my groin. A couple of those blood clots measured 17cm (about 6 inches). As I dont take drugs or alcohol, that was ruled out, and all tests for cancer have came back negative I am told I may never find the cause. Has anyone else got blood clots since starting Keto?
I believe the Keto diet is a life changer for me as my health improved in so many ways, but I would like to rule out Keto as a contributor to blood clots and would very much like to hear from anyone that has knowledge of if this is possible or not.
I would ask r/keto as well. Please let me know what you find, if you find anything
Keto lifestyle is as old as mankind, its not a new fad. Sugar and carbs is the new diet and its killing us!
Yes, it is unlikely the nomadic tribes that roamed this planet in pre history ever did haul a big bag of potatoes on their treks. Not even the explorers of the US did that, the went to a meat straight diet when they wanted to travel as light as possible.
Awesome video Dr. W. Thank you.
Thank you for these videos. My research recommends taking potassium/mag supplementation. When I take this supplement, I get tingling/numbness in my face and head feels fuzzy. This is my 5th week into keto. I am taking an ACE Inhibitor even though it doesnt help to lower very high bp, doctor continues to recommend it. Could the numbness/tingling in the face be caused by an excess of potassium?
I don’t call it a diet. I choose to live differently and away from all that over processed way of eating. Just cooking at home and paying attention to what your using is the way it goes. Find eating out is hard so I just do less of it and try to avoid it if I can.
Everyone who has done keto properly know that you will inevitably:
1) Lose weight (fat weight, that is)
2) Experience a marked increase in energy and mental clarity
3) Reduce your blood pressure
4) Experience happier mood
5) Save money
Ive been doing keto and IF for 7 weeks and have experienced ALL these positive effects. Im never going back to a carb/sugar based diet. Period.
Here is another video you might find interesting that touches on this topic.
Congrats.
Yes.. Your explanation was very helpful. Thank you.
Im just coming out of keto flu…my system has kicked in, liver shrunk, stomach shrunk….feel wonderful. No sugar low carbs is best….even if your not on strick keto
What a great video. Thank you for sharing with all of us. Would you mind making a video on being Keto the last 20 years? Very interested if you noticed any big changes throughout the years?
The worse thing that happened to me with Keto, was I needed to take around 40 items of clothing to the tailor to make smaller. I lost 13kg in 4 months and felt fantastic.
can you tell me what happened after, please? happened the same to me and now i am concerned about what will the body do now, that it was left without storages. will it addapt with only the meals, since till now it burned the meals plus the fat storages? thank you a lot
❤
Headline Hamster LOVE THIS 💚💚
I’ve seen a woman online who is 65 years old. She looks like she’s 45 and there may be a reason for that. She started the Atkins diet to lose weight 45 years ago.
Thank you for your wisdom. It’s much appreciated 🤘
Thank you so much I love this from Australia xx God bless
Pancreatitis is a possible although rare side effect of Keto , can you elaborate on that ??
You are eating like a boar or a goat. You are liars and self-liars like all fanatics
I cant speak to that but I do know that two of my friends ended up with low blood sugar after trying to finish a Marathon last week. I told them not to do Keto. They didnt listen. Theyre listening now.
TELEVISIONARCHIVES this is because they were likely not adapted yet. I can assure you that adapted athletes are able to go between 4 to 5 times longer than carb burners without nutrition when competing in endurance events.

Not government agencies. Those are funded by tax payers. A better solution, since its the people already paying for it, no matter how you cut it, ask for donations instead.
That way instead of increasing cost of living upon the populace, people who need the money that would otherwise be extracted in taxes can opt instead to pay bills, instead of having their bills increase.
Keto and hyperthyroidism. I am supposed to be scheduled for ablation…my numbers right now are in a sweet spot according to my Dr but she wants to eliminate risk in future from my wild acting thyroid! I have been lowcarb/keto fpr some time now. Could this be why my numbers are better? Any consolation here
@Adapt Your Life Thank you, I expected only a minimal reply as I know your limitation, not being my doctor but even this reply is encouraging! 🙂
Cynthea Anderson it’s hard to tell without history etc. your Keto lifestyle could very well be one of the reasons your numbers are great. Keep doing what your doing 😊
Six months on keto diet, my latest blood test show remarkable improvement A1c in mid range Diabetes appears to be going into remission. Stopped Statin, now I wake up not logy and exhausted from the nights sleep therefore depression is gone. And this is in the dark of mid winter.
How do I help my doctor with the LDL issue? Does not all its components, when added up, show the real health of ones cholesterol amounts?
@Adapt Your Life
Good to know. Thanks for your great contribution to this channel.
LogicalNotes Dr Fung is an outstanding Doctor, you are in great hands 😊
@Adapt Your Life
Ill talk with her about doing this scan. In the meantime, I will be going to a clinic here in Toronto under the guidance of Dr. Jason Fung next month, perhaps he does this scan. I will discuss this with him as well.
Thank you.
Hi LogicalNotes, looking at total and LDL cholesterol is becoming out dated. Triglyceride and HDL is far better at predicting risk. A Carotid Artery scan is becoming the best predictor 😊
As an epileptic using this because I wont be able to rely on my medication forever (having children in near future and I dont want to be on anti-consultants while pregnant or breastfeeding). I appreciate that you note that this diet isnt just for weight loss.
I SO wish the Web had been up and running all those years ago when my daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy. Her life might have been very different.
Then, it was This is how it is, learn to live with it.
For last 20 years I tried to stay on fresh fruit and vegetables with baked chicken or baked sweet potato. Went back on it last 2 weeks and havent lost a pound. So against everything I believe going to try Keto diet. Wish me luck.
Drs are corrupt too. Im off medications now since doing keto. I wonder why. Oh thats right big pharma hates keto people because we dont need your poisonous medicines.
No profits in good health…
Truth Exposer exactly
We all die. Id rather die being slim, energetic, and happy, than fat, sick and diabetic.
nalvar82 we agree, truth is, we believe this in turn will improve longevity
What about strictly plant based vs keto. The beef, dairy, bacon etc. is not healthy.
Alex Fernando how so?
You are wrong my friend!
Jared Malone we not convinced a plant based diet is the healthiest choice.
GO VEGAN AND DIE
how can healthy eating make you sick, for me keto diet is just eating healthy
There no long term effects of the Keto Diet other then you will be fine. This diet started about 2.5-2.0 Mil. Years ago.
Sounds like the long-term effect of the keto diet is that its more likely you will be around in the long-term to experience effects.
Thank you Doctor I find all your information so interesting. I have been in Keto four months and I am still learning.
Hi Patz777777
Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you, very informative..
Have shared your video in my group
Framingham studys worst heart risk was high triglycerides and low HDL but no drug fixes that but KETO does! Re LDL it goes up usually due to weight loss without risk
Dr Jeff McDaniel
Jeff McDaniel we agree😊
The effect after 21 months: lost 50lbs, came off most all meds, HgA1c of 5.1, pain levels greatly reduced.
Common sense and lack of consumption( carbs and sugar) do not allow for buying Maseratis! Stents and coronary bypass do! We just love to throw money and pills at problems!
Thank you so much for your advise and taken time to reply to me Dr Erick. Hope you have a nice day !!!
I went no sugar no carbohydrates ate good fats and plant based foods with some meats, restricted any food to three hours a day. Fasted eighteen hours a day(from dinner to lunch the next day)eight weeks later I had lost thirty pounds from 205 to 175 (I’m 6ft), my fasting blood glucose levels are 85-90, CRP is down and a1c is coming down. I didn’t use this for weight loss but I knew I would loose weight. This was for cardiovascular inflammation and control of plaque and arterial health. I’ve had heart problems and the doctors weren’t helping me it was time to dump them and do my own research.
Copisetic 1 i did the same thing with the same result!!
Eating meat at every meal is not sustainable on this earth. Waste made by farm animals, oil needed to raise and transport animals and farm land needed to grow corn and soybeans is way too much for this earth to sustain.
Fred Flintstone I think this doesn’t only apply to meat. The worlds population is putting pressure on all nutrition
Hi .just reading up on this before i try it .Im what youd call a sugar alcoholic .Ive about 4 to 5 stone to lose. Ive high cholesterol and on liptor table for it .Is it safe for me going on this type of diet if it can raise cholesterol .would love your advice thank you .
Hi Dyane Hurley, it is always best to be monitored by your Doctor. A Keto diet is typical safe and we believe that cutting the carbs have a positive effect on triglyceride and HDL markets (part of your cholesterol panel)
