I have been checking my markers and found no detrimental effects of doing keto at all. Thst said I do eat vegetables a lot with fatty meat and I am more on a low carb, high protein than keto diet. (Due to high protein intake and lots of workout plus time restrictive eating I am in and out of ketosis on daily basis)

As a new doctor you are naive about adopting practice options based on one paper. This data is based on questionnaire I would bet that most people reporting was inaccurate. How did they select their group and controls. Most nutrition studies are filled with bias. I have practice 40 year. I have done research and also have degrees in public health and PHD on top of my M. Keto is a spectrum. It benefits some children with recalcitrant seizure. There is dirty keto and clean keto. Please Obese people and those with diabetes will benefit from restricted carbs and correction of their insulin resistance. This is not Atkins eat all and any kind of meat you want. Once you are at correct weight then you can modulate with keto cycling as you engage in more activities.
As a physician I will never eat the fake soy meat and fake cheese and dairy and any GMO crap. I eat grass fed meat and dairy that is limited and my protein intake is based for my age and body size. I will eat whole plants mostly keto with rice potatoes and other high carb on days with most exercise. I also eat wild not farm raised lower mercury fish. Those mono crops that veggie promote are ruining our soil. You need to read more books and look at the data and research.

Well if you take into consideration that a lot of tryptophan is in grains or grain like foods ->tryptophan is the amino acid that creates serotonin then wouldnt eating a low tryptophan containing diet make you more depressed and/or anxious? Ie other than chicken and bananas how does a keto dieter get enough tryptophan in thier diet? My sibling that tried this diet for over a year developed worse anxiety. My opinion as a future Dietitian is that All or nothing diets are not good in the long run. Moderating is the key but definitely avoid stuff that is toxic and harmful like trans fat.

OK, Id like to know a little bit more about these test groups: how many of them smoked in their lives, how much sugar do they consume, do they take alcohol, do they all exercise equally, what do their family health histories look like, what are the stress levels theyve been subjected to in their lives? Etc, etc, etc. While diet may contribute to longevity, there are many other factors playing into it. You cannot attribute length of life solely to the amount of carbs people do or do not eat.
Over a year ago I weighed 280 lbs and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My books glucose level measured a staggering 22 points and I had high blood pressure.
On the advice of a friend who was recently diagnosed before me he said to try Keto or stay as close to the very low carb diet that I could.
I first began hard core Keto and tapered back very low to moderate carb intake. Within 5 weeks my blood glucose level entered into the normal range between 4-8 points, my blood pressure is normal, I dropped 55 pounds and I feel great.

Well in most Asian country keto diet is really hard to follow because most of the main food are carbs rich like rice and noodles. But guess what? Obesity is not very common in asia unlike western countries, which also makes asian people has a longer live expectancy. Go vegan keto. Eliminate dairy products, meat, fish, eggs, etc. Avoid any kind of animal products. And, consume only low carb plant foods, avoid overcooking, so your insulin level doesnt spike.

Edit: I just finished reading the Lancet study, and it says people who eat a low carb (<40%) are substituting it with either animal fat/protein OR plant fat/protein. The former will result in early mortality, while the later will allow you to live a healthier life. So, I guess thats a go for #veganism 😀

agree Keto is a cheat diet and only a temporary fix, however this article never mentioned about eating fruit and what fruit does for your health. I am all fruit now and at 61 I have incredible health….NOW….before I ate similar to a keto diet and ended up with stage 3 kidney failure, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Spondylitis, pre diabetes, big knarly knuckles and could not even open a door, overweight and no energy. I was only 40 then. Fruit cured all of that. Before you all jump down on the sugar in fruit, remember this, the sugar in fruit is fructose and does not require insulin to move into the cells for your energy. It is the ONLY sugar that does this on its own. So you can eat fruit 24/7 and never will have have too much sugar floating around in your bloodstream, turning into acids, causing health issues. Doctors are not being told this and most are too indoctrinated to do their own research. The other thing that fruit does and no other food can, is move the lymphatic system, which is your garbage /toxin disposal system, ie it remvoes the toxins from your cells and excretes them out through your lymph nodes. If that gets clogged up and slows down or stops moving altogether then you have serious problems. Why….because if the lymph system is already full and not moving then your cells sit there with the toxins and that causes cellular degradation and cellular mutosis, ie your cancers and auto immune conditions, like I once had. If you are on a sad diet then DO NOT go all fruit to begin with as this will move your lymph system really fast and the detox can be quite harsh on the body and make you very sick. This is akin to alcoholics where they must detox them slowly, as too fast can kill them. I have found the younger people cope much better than older ones and can only put this down to the older you are the more build up of toxins you have sitting around. The studies you refer to are not reliable because they are all based on questionnaires which are not scientific as you should well know.
